Lakers Knicks Game Re-Cap

Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant guards New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony during the first half of their NBA basketball game in Los AngelesThe Lakers prevail over the Knicks in game 2 on Christmas 100-94. This was the game I though would go down to the buzzer, which it did. It was back and forth from the very tip. Run against run, three against three, dunk after dunk. And boy, did the stats shine in Hollywood. By the end of the game, Tyson Chandler and Metta World Peace had both foulded out for playing pesty defense and it may have changed the game.

When Chandler foulded out, there was three minutes left in the game and the Knicks were down 2. The Knicks, having no man in the middle were vulnerable and had to over compensate, it let Pau get his easy drive at the end and let Howard post easily.

Kobe Bryant had his ninth straight 30+ point game this season as he finished with 34 points on 14 of 24 shooting from the field. MWP finished with 20 including 3 makes from behind the arc. Steve Nash in his second game back came within reach of a triple double getting 16 points, 11 assists and 6 rebounds. The Lakers really succeded when they had Pau Gasol playing high-lo with Dwight Howard. Meaning that when they ran the play through Gasol, Nash was able to set off ball screens to free up teamates.

Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith also had excellent offensive performances for the Knicks. Melo finished with 34 and Smith racked up 25 off of the bench.

Two down and three to go. That was a great game and if we follow the trend, today is only going to get better! Next up, Heat and Thunder. Tune in!
